Answers from Our Technical Team

We collected the most common questions from engineers and contractors of Wood Wool projects in Saudi Arabia. Did not find your answer? Contact us on WhatsApp.

What is the difference between Wood Wool 15mm, 25mm, and 35mm?+
Thicknesses differ in acoustic performance and weight: 15mm (8.2 kg/m²) — for standard ceilings with NRC 0.60. 25mm (13.3 kg/m²) — best for sports halls with ball impact resistance. 35mm (17.5 kg/m²) — highest acoustic performance reaching Class B at αw 0.80 with lining.
Does Wood Wool resist Saudi Arabia humidity?+
Yes — Wood Wool is suitable for rooms with constant humidity up to 90%. Ideal for Jeddah and the coastal Eastern Region. However, avoid direct exposure to rain or outdoor pollutants.
What NRC is right for schools and sports halls?+
For classrooms: NRC ≥ 0.60 (RT60 ≤ 0.4 sec). For sports halls: NRC ≥ 0.80 (echo from ball bounces). Skynest 25mm + Stonewool achieves the ideal NRC 1.00 for large halls and schools.
Can Wood Wool be installed on an existing ceiling?+
Yes — we offer 4 installation systems: Direct mount (A2.1, A2.2) for flat ceilings, concealed grid (B2.1, B2.2) for clean look, visible grid (C2.1) for fast installation, and wall mount (S2.1) for wall applications.
How are Wood Wool panels maintained?+
Very simple maintenance: clean with soft brush or gentle vacuum for regular dust. For stains: use a clean white cloth with warm water. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners. Panel life is 15+ years without acoustic performance loss.
Wood Wool or Fabric panels — which is better?+
Depends on use: Wood Wool = best for sports halls, schools, industrial (ball impact + durability + natural look). Fabric = best for premium offices, meeting rooms, mosques (NRC 1.00 + 60+ colors). For full comparison, see materials comparison page.
Do you have safety certifications recognized in Saudi Arabia?+
Yes — Skynest and HERADESIGN are certified with all international standards: Euroclass B-s1,d0 (reaction to fire), EI 30 (fire resistance), EN 13501-1, EN 13964, ASTM C 423-01. Complete certificates available for Civil Defense and consultants on request.
What is the warranty period and after-sales service?+
Official warranty 10 years on panels from manufacturer. Our service includes: free site visit, pre/post RT60 measurement, professional installation per Knauf/USG standards, optional annual maintenance contract, and 24-hour emergency replacement for damage.

— WHAT IS WOOD WOOL —

Long wood fibres, bonded by cement

Wood wool acoustic panels are made by binding long, fine wood fibres (slivers of spruce or fir) with an inorganic cement or magnesite binder. The open, textured surface absorbs sound while the cement gives the panel structural integrity and natural fire resistance.

01 · Natural Wood Fibre Texture
01 · Natural Wood Fibre Texture

Long wood fibres create an open, slightly porous surface that lets sound waves enter the panel — where their kinetic energy converts to heat through friction inside the fibres.

02 · Cement-Bonded Durability
02 · Cement-Bonded Durability

An inorganic cement or magnesite binder coats every fibre. The result is a panel that resists moisture, impact, vermin, and rot — and contributes a non-combustible mineral content (A2 reaction available, subject to supplier test report).

03 · Acoustic Backing Option
03 · Acoustic Backing Option

For higher acoustic performance, panels are installed over an air gap or 30–75 mm acoustic stone wool backing — lifting absorption from a baseline NRC 0.40–0.65 toward NRC 1.00 in tested systems.

— ACOUSTIC PERFORMANCE DEPENDS ON INSTALLATION —

Three mounting methods · three performance tiers

The same wood wool panel can deliver very different acoustic results depending on how it's mounted. Choose the method that matches your room's volume, frequency target, and budget.

01 · Direct Fix
01 · Direct Fix

Panel fixed directly to wall or ceiling — no cavity, no backing.

NRC ≈ 0.40–0.65

Best for: corridors, decorative walls, general echo control.

02 · Air Gap Mounting
02 · Air Gap Mounting

Panel installed on battens or suspended with a cavity behind. Cavity depth tunes low/mid-frequency absorption.

03 · Stone Wool Backing
03 · Stone Wool Backing

Four supported installation systems

01 · Direct Fix

Adhesive or mechanical fixing on a flat substrate (plaster, concrete, drywall). Fastest method · no cavity · baseline acoustic performance.

02 · Batten / Air Gap System

Panels fixed to timber or metal battens with a 25–75 mm cavity. Improves low/mid-frequency absorption and allows a service cavity for cables and conduit.

03 · Suspended Ceiling / T-Grid

Drop-in tiles on a standard 600 × 600 mm or 600 × 1200 mm T-grid. Easy access to plenum services · ideal for offices, schools, public interiors.

04 · Concealed Grid / Flush Finish

Premium architectural finish — grid hidden inside panel rebates for a flush, continuous appearance. Available on select product families.
