What Is a Fabric Track / Gripper System?

A Fabric Track (also called Fabric Wall Track, Acoustic Fabric Gripper, or Stretched Fabric System) is an on-site acoustic wall solution. Rigid UPVC plastic profiles with FR (Fire Retardant) and concealed gripper jaws mount around the perimeter of any area on a wall or ceiling. The framed area is filled with 25–75 mm of acoustic infill (mineral wool, PET fibre or glass-fibre). Acoustically-transparent fabric is then stretched across the surface and pressed into the gripper jaws using a tucking tool. The result: one continuous acoustic surface with no visible screws, brackets or panel-to-panel joints — premium aesthetic and high absorption in the same finish.

Frame the Area

Mount the rigid UPVC gripper track around the perimeter — countersunk screws every 200–300 mm. No wall preparation needed; follows any geometry.

Fill & Wrap

Pack the area with 25–75 mm acoustic infill (mineral wool / PET / glass-fibre). Stretch acoustically-transparent fabric over the surface.

Tuck & Finish

Press the fabric edge into the gripper jaws with a tuck tool. Trim excess. The result: seamless acoustic surface, no visible fixings.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from acoustic panels?

Rigid acoustic panels are factory-built in fixed sizes (e.g. 1200 × 600 mm) with visible edges and panel-to-panel joints. A fabric gripper system is built on-site: tracks mounted around any shape, fabric stretched over, edges tucked into hidden grippers. The result is a continuous fabric wall with no panel joints visible.

Which fabrics can I use?

Acoustically-transparent fabrics in the 150–500 g/m² range. Yamamah Smart supplies a curated selection from major mills, and can source any fabric you specify. We test acoustic transparency on samples before ordering bulk for the project.

What determines the NRC?

Almost entirely the infill behind the fabric, not the track or fabric itself. 50 mm mineral wool delivers NRC 0.85–0.95; 75 mm delivers 0.95–1.05; 100 mm can exceed 1.10. The fabric must be acoustically transparent so sound passes through to reach the infill.

Can it go around windows, doors and curves?

Yes — the tracks follow any geometry. We use Inside Corner, Outside Corner and Edge profiles to navigate 90° turns, and short straight segments to follow gentle curves. No wall preparation is required.

How is a damaged section repaired?

Open the fabric edge from the gripper track in the affected area, replace the fabric panel, re-tuck. A typical wall section takes ~30 minutes. The gripper tracks stay in place — damaged fabrics can easily be replaced without replacing the grippers.

Is the material fire-rated?

Yes — the PVC/UPVC profile is manufactured with an FR (Fire Retardant) additive and is self-extinguishing. Behind the fabric, mineral-wool infill carries an A2-s1, d0 rating per EN 13501-1 for the most demanding fire-class projects.

What is the lead time?

Track stock in Riyadh ships within 48 hours. Fabric and infill: 1–2 weeks depending on selection. Full project installation: 5–14 days depending on the area size and complexity.
