Four steps, one quiet pipe
Crew-of-two retrofit — typical riser stack between two floors completes in under an hour.
Clean & Inspect
Wipe pipe clean of dust and grease. Inspect for leaks before sealing. Mark hangers and clamps.
Wrap the Pipe
Cut foam to length and wrap the pipe — overlap seams 50 mm. Apply the MLV outer layer with seams offset from the foam seams.
Seal Seams
Apply self-adhesive foil tape over every seam. Wrap the foil 360° at the ends to lock the assembly.
Cover & Restore
Reattach clamps over a rubber sleeve (no metal-on-pipe contact). Restore ceiling/drywall. Done.

Quick answers about pipe sound damping
How much does an acoustic pipe wrap reduce drain noise?
A properly installed MLV + foam pipe wrap reduces airborne drain noise by 20-30 dB at the receptor side. The damping layer also lowers structure-borne water-hammer impacts.
Can I install it on existing pipes without removing them?
Yes — acoustic pipe wraps are designed as a retrofit. We wrap the existing PVC, cast-iron or PEX line in place. No plumbing rework as long as the pipe is accessible.
Is the wrap fire-resistant?
Yes. We supply European-class B-s2,d0 and ASTM E84 Class A rated wraps for buildings that require fire-rated risers. Bitumen-free polymer grades are available for hospitals and food service.
Will it sweat or trap condensation on cold-water lines?
Closed-cell foam grades double as thermal insulation, preventing condensation on chilled lines. For most drain stacks (intermittent flow) condensation is not an issue.
What thickness do you recommend?
For residential PVC and PEX drains, a 3-5 mm MLV layer with 10-15 mm foam is typical. For cast-iron stacks and hospital risers we use 5 mm MLV with a 25 mm foam jacket. Sized at site survey.
